2 more with the TLR and the 180mm lens (equivalent to about a 105mm on 35mm film) not exactly a stealth street camera.

Metrix - which focusing screen are you using? i'm assuming that you have a C220 or C330... it appears that your intended focus may be off??? or did you intentionally miss focus? creats an interesting affect since my eye is draw to what is the most obvious subject in each photo, only to find that it's not in focus but the plane of focus is typically behind it... was that intentional?

Ken as the TLR is not exactly stealth I was prefocusing and missed by that much maybe about a foot behind his shoulder.

All 3 shots
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/metrix_feet/2511353006/"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3005/2511353006_6c9d412f38_t.jpg" width="100" height="77" alt="Looking Back Up Yonge"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/metrix_feet/2505884433/"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2329/2505884433_0f7150dd1b_t.jpg" width="100" height="98" alt="Little Girl And The Pigeons"></a> were actually prefocused. In the left one I focused on the bicycle seat and I hit the shutter when I thought she was at the right distance.

For this shot <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/metrix_feet/2510520063/" title="Finding The Way by Metrix X, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2242/2510520063_1c2053b4fe_t.jpg" width="100" height="97" alt="Finding The Way"></a> I walked into the shot using zone focusing and approximated when I came to the right distance. For the little girl I was expecting her to run into focus.

With a 180mm lens at f5.6, reasonably fast shutter and close distances the dof is rather shallow so I didn't expect to get it right on but I am getting close. In my continuing almost pointless effort to use a TLR with a 180mm lens in stealth mode next time I am going to try street shooting with tri-x 320 shot at Iso800 to get a bit more depth of field by stopping down the lens one stop or so.

metrix - interesting technique... i've never used a TLR with longer than 80mm lens... i guess zone focusing is the only way when shooting candids with it... i guess critical focus is tough unless you're set on a tripod and have time to focus... i'm sure the 180mm makes a terrific portrait lens...

you should try some street portraits with it...

You have to follow them after taking the pictures to be a stalker. I go my own way after the picture is taken and I find someone else to stalk...uh, I mean to take a candid picture of. :)

Ken isn't Paris a wonderful place to take candids. Interesting that France has a law that forbids these type shots but there is zero enforcement.

Much closer to home taken with my diminutive digital P&S
