Sigma 18-50 EX DC or Tamron 17-50 non vc? , this will be used on a cropped body. Which would you choose and why? I'm in a bit of a dilemma

When I had my Canon body, I loved using that Tamron non-vc.

I just bought the Tamron 18-50mm for my Nikon, non-vc and so far seems to be a decent, sharp lens. Can't complain for the price.

I'm seriously considering the Tamrom 17-50 non-vr as my next lens purchase. From the reviews that I've read, it is a pretty good lens for the price.

I used it as a Macro in a pinch more than anything else! It wasn't designated as a macro lens, but on my old 40D, it did the job.

I also looking for some lens starting 16-18 and ending up in 50-70.

I also check comments on other forums and it seems it is really hard to choose lens without checking it (unfortunatelly almost in all 2.8 Tamron/Sigma/Tokina there are quality optic variety and BF/FF issues) but overall if you would have sharp version of Tamron 17-50 2.8 non VC it would be better than sharp version of Sigma 18-50 2.8.
