I already got the call -- but I had to take a pass :( I had to fix my van - which cost big bucks, so he is going to call me when he gets his next batch in at the store. I need it by August 25th. So I am hoping to have it in early August.

I was in Henry's on Church Street on Saturday and they had (I think) 3 D800 bodies in open stock to sell off the shelf. They tried to sell me one. :-)

I'm surprised to hear people were still waiting on orders to be delivered.

Edit: Oops, I think I mis-read your post. You finally got it because you waited for your van, not because you waited for delivery. Whoops!

Ya Eric..... I could have had one over a month ago...... But the van is more important than photography, and I had to pay for a major repair...replacing all four brake rotars and pads, etc.... $1100 ouch!

Last week I got the call from my sales rep at Merkle that he was getting a big shipment of D800's in, and he put one aside for me. And the timing is excellent, as I had half of the cash saved, plus the job that I just did paid for the other half.

So now I habe mine.... And I am going to play this weekend up in the forest, and report back next week. I am certain that this camera is going to be great. And from what I can see.... No focus issue, which seems to be what everyone bitches about at Fred Miranda forum.

Congrats on the new camera!

I just blogged a wedding I shot with the D800 and the D4. The D800 was used for the "formals" and some of the reception shots.

Wonderful set Sam. I'm trying to hold off the allure of the E. I'll see how long that lasts, probably until January 3rd :P

Thanks Dmitris!

I thought about the E after seeing some impressive comparison shots but seeing as I don't sharpen my files I figured there wouldn't be any benefit to me.

January 3rd ;-)

The E was also recommended to me ..... but the D800 does a good enough job for my taste. And with the diversity of subjects I shoot .... I am better off with the non-E version.
