Anyone play with this lens yet?

My buddy bought the first one available and after trying it out, i bought it off him the same day he bought it haha. Its an amazing lens, the image quality if phenomenal but i have one small issue. I'm currently using it with a 5D Mark II but when i shut off the camera and restart it, it doesn't focus anymore until i take off the lens and remount it on the camera. Is it just me? or has anyone else who's played with this experienced the same problem?

Aside from that one small hick up (not exactly difficult to mount a lens) its an amazing lens.

I started this thread since no one else seems to have posted up anything yet :D

Can't help you with your issue as I haven't even seen one of these lenses personally yet. Perhaps there is something on POTN's thread about the lens.

Great performance of the lens aside, it's supposed to be pretty good, the idea of it confuses me without the announcement of a full frame, or aps-h(which I highly doubt), sensor mirrorless camera. Too small and slow to make sense on an slr.

Check if the lens contact is clean, might have some protector residue if it is a new lens.

I just bought the lens yesterday, and i don't have the issue that you described. (I have 5d mk2 as well)...
I loved it so far but one thing is that when I use it with manual focusing for video, the sound of focusing ring is little weird and loud (sounds disappear when I use auto-focus mode).
Do you have same issue?? or is it just me??
Thanks

ill check the lens, or just go swap it at aden

i dont hear any noise since i only use it in auto for shooting cars but ill try the manual focus and let you know. i love the lens though, captured some really nice and clean shots since ive had it and i love it. I did a firmware update and now it stopped doing the weird recognition problem except there was no mention of that lens in the firmware update.
