Hey everyone,

I'm currently considering getting this lens. Does anybody have any experiences with the Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD?
Generally the review are positive in terms of its value for the price. Currently, Tamron is running a mail-in-rebate promo for $100 off if you buy it from the US (although if I buy it online from a US retailer, am I still eligible for this mail-in-rebate as a Canadian recipient?), so it might be a good idea to get it now.

Thanks!

If you have a solid alloy body I recommend you get the 70-200 f2.8, far superior optics ! I have one and I love it.

If you have one of the plastic bodies then get this Tamron 70-300 for sure as is a better alternative to the Nikon 70-300 VR.

The 70-200 will be too heavy and may cause damage to your mount.

I have this lens and was 50/50 on it as I was also in the market for a 70-200 F/4 L IS lens. I actually own both now and found the Tamron to be very good and had very good IQ, although colours compared to the Canon were not as sharp, but you could barely tell unless you have both lenses to compare. It also depends on the type of shooter you are, weight, zoom, etc. I also based mine on the many positive reviews, even the nikonguy review was impressive, if you had a chance to see the review for it.
