that is insane difference! No wonder people have been talking about removing the AA filters in their cameras if Nikon thinks it adds that much value! ha

Both Adorama and B+H have them at 3k for the D800 and 3.3k for the D800E.

You obviously need a special USB cable to move 36MP files! LOL.
$2400? Must be a "Monster" brand USB cable ha

Where are you getting the 2400 U$D price from? Both Adorama and B+H are listing it at $3000 USD and $3300 USD respectively.

Except that's totally different from the various official links that have been provided in this thread. Where's your price info sourced from?

Even the rumors sites have been updated to reflect $3k and $3.3k respectively.

The E version doesn't have an anti-aliasing filter. The D version does.

Apparently a $300 or $800 dollar one at that...

Right, and that source says $3000 and $3300 respectively. Not what you quoted earlier.

I don't know where you guys are getting these prices for the D800 from. Nikon.com as well as tons of other sources show the MSRP at $2,999.95. That sounds sounds pretty official to me. It's a $300 difference, maybe they had to build a new manufacturing line for the new AA Filterless sensors and they're passing on the costs to us, its not the end of the world.

well, at least the D700s will finally come down in price. I think they were hovering about $2700 a few weeks ago.

I presume they'll level out at $1,999-2,099 before they're all gone. I think I only paid $2150 for mine before taxes about a year ago.

I was speaking to a sales person earlier today, and he said that the E version is worth the price. Perhaps there are better measures against dust in the non-filter version. I am sure in the coming days we will find out why the cost is more.

It's getting very hard to find a new D700. We've been sold out for a couple weeks now. D800 would be a great camera for studio and landscape shooters. I'd suggest another camera if you want to shoot something else.

Yup.... I shoot quite a bit of Landscape, so its my kind of camera. I am sure it will work for the mills and whatnot too.

While still out of my price range (for now anyways). This is really a great camera for people shooting DX to move to FX. cause even if you have a bunch of DX lenses you can still shoot at over 15MP with this camera! No need to necessarily spend $$$ to buy all new lenses right off the bat - gives you the ability to slowly migrate over.

That is a nice feature with Nikon's for sure. I would imagine if you upgraded to FF you would find a way to get some FF glass to go along with it.

I have heard a lot of very positive chatter about this camera today on other forums and in Canon specific ones too. I think this is great for everyone, as it raises the bar for all manufacturers.

I buy full frame lenses because I can't do math in my head. 1.6 x 24 carry the one then divide by 2 and then the square root to get the crop factor.
