Just noticed on Craigslist that a few X100 are starting to come up and they are asking less than MSRP!

All the retail stores are still holding onto MSRP pricing for new bodies but at least the used market pricing is starting to come down.

I cannot believe how long this product has been able to maintain MSRP pricing at the retail level.

Trying to decide between X10 or X100 (new or used) or wait for the sticking blade situation to resolve itself or just get the 12mm F2 prime for my m4/3 camera.

I got mine for $950 including spare battery, lens adapter/hood and leather case. Only 900 actuations on the camera. It was a sweet and rare deal.

Wait for early 2012 and see what Fuji is coming out with first. Rumor has it that they might be building a better then APS-C sensor with a Leica M-mount or, the latest rumor is that they will make their own mount. When this new X-Series camera comes out the X100 prices will drop even more so hold your money for 3 months more and you can save a bundle.

Secondly, Leica is also rumored to be making a "lower-end" interchangeable lens system camera. Could be a APS-C could be full frame. No ones knows.

Thirdly, the X10 has a small sensor for a camera that LOOKS so good. Kinda of like a souped up Civic with s stock engine with lots of tuner stickers on. Don't buy it just because it looks cool. With that price there are so many choices offered by Panasonic and Olympus with a much larger sensor.

Finally, buy a camera that suits your shooting needs and style. When I first started out I spent so much money on shit that is covered in dust today.

Cheers!

Yo man! That's what I heard too! That's why I put Mugen Power, AC Schnitzer, AMG and Mopar stickers on my Mazda! You think I can drag race a Corvette?

Fuji has always been an innovator, the X100 is ground breaking. I remember in the medium format days they had the rangefinder 645 cameras and the incredible gx680 with bellows - ground breaking innovations.

It will be interesting so see what they come up with in 2012 as they have mentions an interchangable lens mirrorless system and a sensor 'better than full-frame'.

I didn't buy the x100 because it looks cool... I bought it because it has a kickass sensor in a camera which is extremely light, and very portable, and discreet... I have gotten a few comments while shooting street photography like "oh, its so nice to see people still shooting film", etc..

I think they were talking about the X10 - P&S sized sensor but looks like an X100...

A lot of X100's on sale on CL. Hmm .. I know that some people have reported problems requiring lens/shutter replacement .. I wonder if folks are having quality issues.

The main reason I did not buy a X100 was all the negative vibes that I got from user reviews, sticky shutter, bad AF, useless MF, write speed etc... But what really stopped me was Sony Nex-7.

The X100 is not for everyone... but the image quality is outstanding for a camera of its size.

Looks like the used prices is hitting the $900 mark while the retail price remains stable at the MSRP of $1,199.

I don't know if I believe it or not but I heard that the dealer price for the X100 is 1,100 - which may explain why there hasn't been much movement on the retail end of things.

But on the used market - I think the rumored announcement of the LX model in January is pushing people to dump it onto the market now.

I have never seen this happened before - used prices dropping before retail prices drop.

Don't think the LX model is coming out yet. XS1 is first on the list in the new year.

it's simple, people jumped on the "novelty" wagon and now realizing the tool doesn't work for them and was a waste of money. The more supply the less the price

And you have first hand experience with the camera?

You got, it's totally the same! Some people stick with the tools they feel work for them, but most have to dump them on CL/E-bay

Do I need to? It's human nature magnified by the ability to spend enough money. it's not like I am saying it's a bad camera, is it?

Sounds more like sour grapes, those who can afford it and want to buy 50 megapixel cameras then that's their perogative.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with Dimitri. You can't imagine how many X100s I sold to people who didn't know what shutter speed was.

Other than that, the X100 was made for street photography. A lot of people new to photography just thought that the X100 will give them DSLR quality photos in a smaller camera. Yes, resolution will be the same, but a lot of the technical stuff won't be there. IE, DoF or "blurry background effect" is how I explain it to noobs. A lot of people buy DSLRs just for that reason. And people found out the hard way that the X100 won't give them that effect very well.

Also the fact that the X100 looks retro so all the hipsters bought them too.. but didn't know how to use it.

Exactly Eric...... BINGO. The x100 is an awesome camera, but not for everyone. I love mine, and shooting with it right now.

If it was not for hipsters the rest of us won't be able to buy half-price X100 on the used market.

We should encourage hipster life-style; hipsters are essential to the photography ecosystem.

I can't believe I am saying this - but I just sold mine. I was tired of the camera and its little idiosyncracies. Such as slow and hunting AF, the camera freezing for no reason - and the only way to reset after it freezes was to remove the leather enclosure, and remove the battery from the bottom of the camera - that was a major PITA! I loved that camera and the images it produced were amazing -- and when Fuji comes up with a better and more improved model, then I will definately entertain buying an X200 or whatever they'll call it.

But for now .. I am actually diving into the Nikon 1 V1 system. Don't ask why -- I have my mind made up.

I have read a lot of really good reviews on the V1 .. and I did play with it for an hour at Merkley camera ... so I've done my research and know what I am getting into. The image quality from the V1 is not bad. I am going to get it, and if I really don't like it after a week of playing, then I can always return it, and exchange for another camera ... I like the fact that the FT-1 adapter (soon to be available) will allow me to mount any of my AFS lenses - and according to a fellow FM'er who I know well -- the result with the V1 and the 200-400 is really good. Not that I would be out shooting that combo every day, but the 70-200VR on the V1 - hey, that would be quite the telephoto combo.

My plan is to get the kit with the 10-30 lens, and then when I get some more cash in March, I will get the 10mm pancake lens.

Just get a M, a real rangefinder camera and you will never have to hunt for focusing :-)

I bet I can focus faster on a black cat in a dark alley with my M lenses with a focus tab faster then anyone with a autofocus camera :-)

Anyway, it does not look like Fuji will be coming out with a full frame M mount camera. Instead it will be an APS-C "organic" sensor with better performance then a full frame sensor. This also means that Fujinon lenses will be back on the market.

I really don't see a point to an M mount Fuji - what's can it bring to the table that any of the other mirrorless cameras cannot do with an adopter? Make a MF lens an AF lens?

If you believe the rumors - the followup to the X100 will be announced/shown next week.

http://photorumors.com/2012/01/03/fujis ... more-17298

Interested to see what will happen to the used price of the X100 then...
