Hi guys. :) Can anyone recommend a good, fast CF (or multi card) reader? I have one at home but it's just a regular USB reader. Importing RAW files into LR take forever. :(

I use a Delkin Expresscard reader in my Laptop. It is one of the fastest readers available anywhere.

Do you have a USB 3 port?

msowsun - Are Expresscards faster than USB 2 card readers?

Nah. No USB 3 port. My Macbook's pretty old. I got it in 2006.

Yes, Expresscard is much faster than USB 2. I think it is right up there with Firewire 800 and USB 3.

its much faster, you could reach same speeds as internal hard drives.

On my older macbook pro, i have a 2TB drive on expresscard and its faster than using the ancient internal drive.

However I found that expresscard CF readers, alot had compatibility problems....even the eSATA to expresscard adapters had problems.

I run the Siig Express Card Adapter it flies. I wrote about it here sometime ago.

Express Card is an extension of PCI so yes it is much much faster than USB 2. Probably even faster than usb 3.0 in real life uses.
