just wondering if anyone has encountered this problem and if my card is savable?

it's one of my 8gb sandisk extreme sd cards. when i put it in the camera i get this error:

"card cannot be accessed. reinsert/change the card or format card with camera."

so i went into the camera menu and tried to format but got this error:

"cannot format. change card"

i even tried in windows but i can't format it there either. does anyone have any clue what i can do, or is this card toast :(

if you want to save the data it is still possible using getdataback or other simular tools. if the computer recognizes the card in it, then you can work with it.

thanks for the tip. thankfully i saved the images a while ago so i didn't have to deal with that headache...i was just going through my cards to prep my stuff for this weekend.

if anyone else ever goes through similar issues, supposedly this software may help https://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3/ in my case it didn't though.

I am never buying kingston again since they require a receipt for lifetime warranty items.

Besides, they failed 3 times on different media (2 x CF card, 1 x USB).

Sucks.

Hello Canonfan....
It took like three weeks for me to get the card back in the first place...
I and shipping are not great friends....

I got the package in hand and asked to pay 80$, the package looked bigger than an ipad box.. for which i dont have to pay anything in the first place.
So the UPS guys took the package back to the border and did the clearance again, and it came back after a week again in my hands and i didn't pay any money...
I am sure it wont happen for u like this ...but yea ..I Can see the online tracking that looking something like US,Border, Toronto,Border, back to Toronto...
Good luck ..

luckily sandisk didn't ask for the receipt. it's less than a year old for sure though.

i've only bought sandisk and this was the first failure i've experinced in maybe 8+ years. i picked up a 16gb today, hopefully that one will be as reliable as my other ones
