Has anyone changed their factory focus screen to a split focus/micro prism one?

I've heard about Katzeye but they are expensive.
I've been told that I could buy a Nikon K3 focus screen and cut it down. Cheaper but more work.
Now I see some screens out of China specific to my Nikon which is the cheapest solution.

Any comments about any of the above possibilities, especially the last option in terms of quality and fit?

Thanks in advance

I got a katzeye for my Canon 40D with rule of thirds gird lines and am quite happy with it. Reasonably bright and does help with manual focusing as well as framing. Agreed its a bit expensive.

Ofcourse can't beat the Liveview for focusing for stationary subjects like landscapes and some of the macro work.

Personally I find split prism screens painful to use on anything but straight edges. On the other hand microprism screens seem to pop into focus regardless of the scene.
