Does this EF->M43 adapter have aperture control? It's only in the past week that I've seen an EF->NEX adapter with aperture control, and only in the prototype stages.

I gave a link a couple pages back-- it's not to control the aperture on the Canon lens; the adapter has a physical aperture built into it. I saw it on ebay, you can search "canon m43 aperture adapter" or something like that and find it...

I have a feeling this feature is hidden somewhere....but on the EP-2 is there a way to set a button or dial to turn on MF assist? Like a quick zoom to check focus when using MF lenses?

Which m4/3 camera would have this?

The easiest with a dedicated button is the EPL-1, and I would assume the EPL-2 has it as well but you would have to check. You can do it with the ep-2 but it is at least 2 button pushes or a dial and a button, what ever it is, it is not as straight forward as the epl-1

my gf has the ep-1 and it requires cycling through the info screens and hitting OK.

EP-2 is the same but I thought there might be something I'm not seeing since its supposed to be a 'higher end' model.

Scroll through the "Info" options, until the one with the green box shows up. Use the pad to select where you want the box to overlay, in the display. Use the OK button to toggle between zoomed and normal view.

(page 54 in the E-P2 manual)

i bought an FD lens yesterday and now looking at purchasing a budget friendly/cheap adapter for my E-P1. some say the $20 ebay ones are fine and some say there were horrors stories about them breaking the lens. has anyone here bought an FD to micro 4/3 on ebay and actually works without any problems? i'll be using this on a Canon FD 50mm f/1.8 SC lens. thanks in advance.

I bought one of the cheap ones from ebay but it hasn't arrived yet, I'll let you know how it works when it gets here.

I haven't read about the adapters breaking any lenses, what were the adapters doing to the lens?

not sure if this is just for the OM adapter but i'm gonna take as most adapters just for good measure.

Not everyone has been lucky with the cheapie adapters. One person at one of the earlier FourThirds meets had a cheapie OM adapter, and was surprised that I didn't have to press the DOF preview button on my Olympus brand OM adapter to close down the aperture every time I wanted to take a shot.

On the cheapie adapter they didn't bother to install the needed "finger" that holds down the lever that activates the lever, so every time that person has to hold down the DOF preview button on their lens to do the same thing.

Someone else's cheapie I tried the lever was in the wrong place so that the aperture lever would hit the stop before the lens locking pin would engage.

Hmm, I remember reading that but it didn't sink in that FD would have problems too. An FD adapter also needs the lever to push the aperture lock, this is the one that I bought and I assumed that lever on the inside was pushing the aperture:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... 0551762804

I also decided to get one made of brass, as I had read somewhere that brass is softer and less likely to scratch your lens than other metals. Anyways, I guess we'll wait until it arrives...

Coincidentally the adapter arrived today, and the lever does in fact activate the aperture. There's a ring around the adapter for "Lock" and "Unlock", and when you twist the lens in and "Lock" it, the aperture can be changed at will. If you leave it unlocked, then turning the aperture ring on the lens does nothing. The adapter is made by Pixco, which seems to be the brand that a lot of eBay sellers are selling. I hope that helps...

Well, I actually ordered during Chinese New Year so it took them 6 weeks. When they didn't arrive within a month I asked the seller and he said that due to the New Year things get backed up.. so I don't know how long it would take if you ordered now. :(

I got my Nikon F-mount adapter for the gf1 from camera quest. It's the voigtlander one. No it wasn't as cheap as the eBay ones but shipping was quick and it's built like a tank. Really the thing has really nice build quality.

does anyone know the safe sync voltage on the E-P1? i know some said 6.5v, i just want to be sure. i purchased a Vivitar 728AFC flash to use on the E-P1 without even thinking of it. if it's not safe i can use it as a slave.

thanks in advance

Don't know, myself, but this thread indicates 6.5V: http://e-p1.net/accessories/e-p1-third-party-flashes/

Anyone planning to get the Olympus EP3? I wish they have a body only package so that I can get the Panny 20mm 1.7 to go with it. That is as close to my current walk around setup of 5DII + 35L as I can find in a much more comfortable package to travel with.

Looking into prices and surprised that B&H price is the same as Vistek and Henrys. So the only benefit for getting it from B&H is to pick it up in the states and try to save some taxes.

I'm thinking about the E-P3, based on recommendations from someone who got to play with one. The focus speed sounds like it might now be in the workable range, for what I do. If I do get one it'll be the kit with the 17mm pancake, bought in Canada.

I am now looking at the Fuji X100 as an option as well. I like the bigger sensor, viewfinder, and supposingly better IQ. If I get the EP3 I will be using it with the Panny 20mm 1.7 most of the time anyways just like the 5DII 35L combination that I like. So the X100 would not be a bad option. Hard decisions...

When I was looking for a small combo I also liked the Samsung NX10 with the 30mm pancake lens. Very good build quality and very compact with an apsc sensor, it felt like using a flattened dslr.. but then the 30mm lens won't be as wide as you like.

I got to play with my friends X100 and I must say its very tempting. The biggest drawback for me is the very high pricetag for a fixed focal non changeable camera. Maybe one day i'll own one but still getting very impressive results on my E-P1+Panny 20mm combo I have.

I am more concerned about the quirks the X100 has with the stability of the firmware, AF, file writing speed etc. that I read about in the press. I think I am going to stick with the EP3 until Fuji release a next version of X100.

Those who bought the E-P3: What are your thoughts? I'm looking forward to picking one up (upgrading from the E-P2). Thanks.

Only have one on order, it is not here yet. I already picked up a Panny 20mm 1.7 to go with it. Also thinking of ordering a Oly 12mm 2.0.

20/1.7 is awesome. One of my 3 favs for the m4/3 system (others being 45/2.8 & 7-14).

I am trying to choose between the 7-14 vs the new Oly 12. Read a lot of good things on both of them. It is a matter of choosing between a faster prime vs a wider zoom.
