I had an idea a while ago that I thought could turn into a really great collaborating vehicle - I have CyberSync radio triggers (1 receiver/2 transmitters) + 3 lights (Canon 580 EX, Nikon SB-24, SB-26, which operates as an optical slave). I've also got a couple of convertible umbrellas and a softbox +5-in-1 reflector set.

I find that sometimes I just don't have enough lights and figured there must be others in the city with similar equipment with the same problem.

So...what to do

When the weather gets nicer I'm going to try to arrange a few more ad-hoc events like this one:

http://www.tpmg.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15421

You should come down and participate. I'm sure you will meet more than a few people here to help you out in this respect.

Bart, that kind of event would be amazing - I've been thinking about doing exactly that in a few different places around town. Kensington Market would be a great spot full of interesting characters and maybe even Trinity Bellwoods park (a little closer to my neighbourhood.

The more the merrier - let me know if you organize something like that again and I'll definitely come out for it!

sounds fun. though i'm not sure what you're photographing that needs so many lights. if anything i found i need bigger and more powerful lights.

@Bartimus ... I miss this type of events... it is thru this event when I started to learn "strobing" and had fun with it.. :)

@shayne.... that set-up is pretty much enough to get you going for an on-location shoot ( not unless you want to purchase some of those pop-up portable backgrounds if you want to do portraits indoors)

That would be an interesting event! I wonder if he got them all to sign model releases?

Great - then let's wait for some warmer weather and go and do it! Let's aim for maybe a week or two (or so...) after the long weekend.

As for model releases, I think it's a good idea to set up a little station where we can have release forms on hand and a laptop to to process images (we can have someone doing that maybe even with a quick photoshop action) and email off a picture right there while the person is standing there.

Just a thought....
