Any thoughts about upgrading D200 to D7K? Looks quite tempting.

The D7000 is not a pro body however -- even though the spec's are impressive -- the body is more similar to the D70/D80/D90 line of camera's.

While the D7000 is comparable to the D80/D90 in size, in build it's comparable to the D200/D300. Magnesium, sealed body, not plastic. Neither body is a 'Pro' body.

It's a D300s downsized with a couple bits of lower spec (fps most notably) and improved IQ. Frankly I suspect Nikon is replacing both the D300s and the D90 with it and we'll see something further up the foodchain as the D300s 'replacement'.

Oh, and for those noting oddities in Nikon's naming convention the first digit indicates product level within each range while the number of digits indicates which range it's in. Nikon's in the midst of rebooting its naming convention (which it does every 15 years or so) and getting rid of the distortion introduced with the F100.

And yes, a D50 is more camera than a D40 (it has screwdriver AF and more physical controls and the basic body design was recycled in the higher-spec D80/D90 bodies), the D60 was the only real odd one out in the old system and it exists solely due to naming confusion between the D40 and D40X, it seems people couldn't grasp 'same camera, more pixels' so the D40X got a quick refresh and a couple updates to remove the confusion.
