a few noob questions.. sorry in advance!

- can i use the 580EX II to trigger the Nikon SB-26 or SB-28?

- Vivitar 285HV has that unique plug so i will need to splice 2 wires to adapt to my camera, but can't i just trigger that with the RF602 or do i need to wire connect it?

- what's the WEIN peanut slave for?

- (not sure about this) is it possible to trigger the Alien Bees (AB400/800/1600) with just the 580EX II on cam?

- aside from the complicated hack on the net, is there any other way to do 2nd curtain sync on the Canon 7D with strobes?

thanks in advance.

1. No the 580ex can not trigger the sb26/28 - unless they have an optical trigger (not sure if they do)
2. Yes, if you have rf602s you can use them to trigger the 285hv
3. Wein peanut slave is an optical slave
4. ABs have an optical trigger built in so any flash will trigger it.
5. Not sure about the 2nd curtain question.

I have the 285hv and honestly I wouldn't recommend them - they take a long time to recycle. I would go with the older Nikon flashes or the new Yongnuo ones.

To trigger the 285HV, you'll need a special sync cable - I believe flash zebra carries it, otherwise you need to trigger it from standard hotshoe. Also the Vivitar does not have 1/8 flash power, I know it's odd.

For the AB800 it has optical sensors and can be triggered by flash (580ex or SB24) - just confirmed it by a quick test.
