If your not carrying a laptop the Lowepro Flipside 400 might be the best compromise. The pocket in the front can carry quite a few things.

Im surprised how many people use Crumpler. I think all the velcro is terrible. Velcro is for a 3ry old who can't tie shoe laces, not a grown up. :) I know the bags now have "silencers" which goes to show that people were requesting less velcro, but how about using just half the amount or magnets?

My backpack is heavy when its empty. That could be the problem for me. I believe its 35L. I think I might look into their smallest bag (eddie bauer) called a Trailhead. I was wondering around Cabbagetown yesterday with my Adventurer and even though I was carrying my camera in my hands, my bag felt like it was full of bricks.

In Toronto their $79, and in Buffalo they're $49. :-) Now I just need to find online coupons.

Heheh, I like the velcro on my Crumpler bags (Whickey and Cox and 6MDH). I don't like fumbling for buckles when I'm trying to quickly put away or take out my gear. Maybe that's why I don't like shoes with laces either... slip on/off = lazy.

There is on thing I really like about Crumplers ... great colours and style. There are many times I want to carry my camera but not look like I have a camera. My next bag will probably be in this direction.

Yes, that's the exact reason why I went with them. They are very good quality too. I've traveled with mine all over and they've always held up to whatever i've put them through.

My current favourite is the Kata Sensitivity V. For me, it's a good all around backpack with a laptop compartment and space for a bit of gear. I've travelled with it all over the world and it's held up great.

Can't go wrong with a company that produces bags for the military:

After all thats been said I have settled on a bag, and its not too exciting. A Nova 160AW. Fits my gear perfectly and can fit into my back pack if I need it to. Im working on getting a smaller backpack to help solve weight issues.

Done and done.

However i did, find the most amazing camera/backpack today. Kata Bumblebee. Holy Cow!!!! I wish I was going somewhere that I needed such a amazing bag. The thing is monstrous and weights nothing! It even has that mesh frame on the back so the pack sits away from your body allowing for air to flow through. Best bag I've ever seen. Wish I needed one. :)

I got the kata 3 in 1 33 for my gear. I also put my laptop in there. Kinda heavy but that is what I use on the go. I like the color as well black with a little red.

Versapack is a good idea, designed horribly wrong. I went and played with one at Vistek and was thoroughly annoyed with it.

Check out either lowepro or thinktank . For me they have the best stuff . I have both brands and I carry a lot of crap . Some will even allow tripods to be attached .

Burton has a camera backpack I really like...they have just one and model and every year shortly after they are released they are sold out.

I don't like shoulder bags but have a versa/knock off crumpler for my small cameras.

Selling points for me include, space, durability and they should not look like camera bags.

The Kata 3in1-20 was my favorite....however after a few long days with my new Kata Bumblebee UL-222, it is by far my favorite. I have owned a couple of Lowepros and Tenba. This bag has been designed to be light.

My only concern was the color, I would love it more if it were black.

The Canadian Distributor for Kata just started to get the Kata UL-222, it should be at stores by the end of the week (Vistek First, from what I heard).

$390 CAD via Vistek

I picked up mine for $275 USD = $280 CAD.

just a followup. i went into henry's and played with kata's bumblebee series. only one i was interested in was the UL model and it isn't very light at all and it's a freakin tank. the construction does look pretty solid and comfortable, but the size and weight doesn't seem suitable for traveling. still thinking about getting the versapack.

i have a few crumpler bags... 4mdh for cam+a lens, 7mdh for camera + some of my gears, whickey and cox backpack for some of my gears + laptop especially for travelling since it can hold my tripod at the back.

only thing i didn't like about is the older version 7mdh where it only have a single buckle in the front, it was horrible to hand carry it especially during my business trip to vegas early this month
after im back from my trip i ditched the 7mdh and picked up the newer one from vistek since they are having 40% off and so far i like it a lot!

also have a manfrotto tripod bag, awesome for traveling...

Vistek had this sale this time last year, right up until Christmas, that's when I grabbed my 8MDH.

How did the bag (and you) survive Europe? Still liking it?

BTW, are you going to sell the 3N1? dibs!
