Finally! In a few words, this should be mandatory for anyone with an r-strap and a manfrotto rc2 qr plate system.

I also have a feeling that black rapid will get many sales from people wanting a DIY r-strap instead. Smart way to tap into that market.

On the whole, the switch involves undoing the hook, which might not be quite as elegant as what I've done with Arca Swiss, but definitely better than having to unscrew the current fastenR to screw on the manfrotto plate, and I suspect this actually has a weight rating, unlike the manfrotto d-ring.

Rock on. I'm definitely going to get one of those. Thanks for the heads up.

Probably.

I thought this was released already??

I saw a wedding guest Uncle Bob with a Black Rapid strap hooked to a Manfrotto plate...unless it was really the original plate without the reinforced ring.....WOW

If people are willing to pay $100 for it I would charge that amount too. Can't blame the company.

Released and very quickly withdrawn. From their website:

We are working together with Manfrotto to ensure that the FR-T1 will work with as many plates as possible. We are currently in final testing on a slightly updated version and will have the FR-T1 back in stock soon.

If you have discovered that your FR-T1 does not properly fit your RC-2 plate, please contact BlackRapid customer service with any concerns.

that video is way over the top for a simple little screw and latch piece.

Waited for this a long time! It got delivered in the mail today. Looks like it fits well but I will test it this week with other Manfrotto plates (I have a B spec and an A spec?) to make sure it fits in all. Will report back.

oops a bit late to post this but seems to work for the three plates I have tried it on. So far so good, it's been on there and no camera drops :) . When screwing it down it has to get into the recessed manfrotto plate circle so it's not a super quick task and you have to jiggle it around a bit.
