If I can sell the Vagabond II (never been used) I would like to pre-pre-order it too.

I would love to pick up a couple of these. Been looking at some portable power options and this fits the bill.

Of course I am not opposed to picking up a discounted Vagabond.

That is sweet!! But I don't feel bad for having a vagabond II - it makes for a good weight for light stands. But in the future I look forward to buying this mini vagabond - gotta love lithium!

I got the Vagabond 2 as well. Just a bit too heavy to be comfortable. At least the new one is affordable even if we have to buy something new. Better than expensive lenses or other stuff.

Just thinking out loud here, would be be able to hook-up the Vagabond II inverter to a lithium battery instead of a SLA battery?

Well apparently the mini can be hooked up to an SLA battery so I guess it's a possibility that it might work the other way around.

That light stand mounting mechanism looks very convenient. Kudos to AB for introducing innovative products into the flash/photography market.

yeah, that mount-ability is the reason I'll get that in the future. it'll make having 1 light setup really handy, especially if you have another person to hold & carry.

One day everyone will be using AB's so that's only a temporary problem. ;-)

Kidding.

I am virtually 100% certain I will be buying one if not two of these, even if I will be using them mostly indoors. Not having to bring extension cords and not having to stay within 10 feet of an AC outlet at a wedding reception would be awesome. But I didn't want to drag the heavy Vagabond batteries around either. The VML is perfect, and might even cost less than the V2!

Hopefully PCB won't have the manufacturing backlog of his other products, and can make enough of these to keep up with demand. He says it'll be at least two months before the first production units will be ready.

Exactly and by that time PCB will have declared war on Canada or something.

Is there anything out there that will connect to Elinchrom lights? I would love to make my D-Lite 4's portable and if this would work I would totally buy one or two of them.

After reading PCB's description of the mini and how they had to design their Einstein series to be able to work with a "brown out" I'm thinking that the mini will not be compatible with other OEM digital strobes. The only system that I've seen that is compatible (made to order) is the Innovatronix XT SE ($350 + $50 S+H) but it looks a bit hefty.

I'm waiting to see if Elinchrom comes out with a newer model of the Quadra, hopefully that can fire 800+ watts for knocking out the sun etc. or I may cave and get a Ranger RX Speed AS.

Not from Elinchrom themselves... they want you to upgrade to their Quadras if you want portable power. :? However, a lot of people have reported success powering the D-Lites off the Vagabond II, so I imagine the VML should work as well.

group buy!!!

The price probably jumps due to a second or bigger box being needed after 5 of them?
