Hello all..
I have a Nikon D3000, and looks like I need a backup battery. The battery that is currently attached with the camera is Nikon EN-EL9A.

I was wondering if there's any other brand with similar capability that's more economical?

Thanks

Look up SterlingTek online. Praised to be one of the best third party battery producers. Bought two for my 5D and they work great.

Is the reason you have two of them is because they are not as strong as the original Canon battery?

Exactly. I use a grip so I have two batteries in at the same time. Two Canon originals and two Sterlingtek. FYI, I wouldn't suggest using an OEM and a third party battery in the grip at the same time.

The Sterlingtek batteries has been very good. Found no difference in life time versus the original batteries. I've only had them for a couple months though. But I mean.. they're like 1/4th of the price of original batteries. Even if they die at the end of the year (which I doubt), I'd still be quite content.

I might order something next week. I'll let you know if I decide to get one from Sterling.

Questions for others who might know:
My camera came with EN-EL9a while Sterling sells only EN-EL9 replacements (without "a"). Will this create a problem later when I plug the EN-EL9 to the camera?

Thanks all.
