the 85mm is probably the best thing out of the announcement, everything else is just meh for me.

24-120 f4 is pretty sweet depending on how well it can deliver. perfect all round lens.

The 85/1.4 has you Nikonians excited.

The 24-120/4 sounds like something to steal the fire from Canon's venerable 24-105.

As for the 28-300: my knowledge of lenses with this wide range is that they doesn't do anything particularly well, but that being said, the 18-200 DX did prove the exception. Maybe Nikon will pull it off.

Canon had the 28-300 since 2004 ....Took nearly 6 years for nikon to bring it
I think the price of 3100 18-55 and 55-200 is 949US $ ..............

I personally think its ....too much....
Not so new features ..but we need 949......
this is just me......

85 1.4? Where's the 1.2? Oh yeah, that's right... :D

Kidding! Looks good.

The 85 1.4 G should be a well needed update to the current D version.

I find that version tends to, at times, do some really funky things on the D700 bodies; it should make a difference but I note a lot of blown highlights with it but once I learned to be a bit more careful with it, it can produce incredibly beautiful images.

Now... the G is all new design.. so this should mean it should function better with the newer bodies..

Cheers,
Dave

ya, I agree... The only real advantage I see now is weather sealing.
Considering the 85mm is more of a portrait lens, not really necessary.

Now, if they F1.2 bumped it. That would've been a real wow.

LOL! I should quote your line to my Nikonian brother in law. We're always debating the D700 vs 5D2 bodies, then the battle front changes to the primes.

Bob Krist tested a prototype of the 28-300 last February and claimed to be "sharp end to end". We'll see if this hold up.

Nikon's 28-300: 114mm, 800g, $1050?
Canon's 28-300: 184mm, 1680g, $2829.99

Just because Canon did it first, doesn't mean it's better. Well.. We'll see. :)

The comments for that pic suggest that's a hoax, and I hope it is, because the OOF looks terrible there!

Some 85mm samples...all portraits of a woman so may not be safe for work depending on who you work for.

It will (likely) be cheaper once it hits store shelves...not much cheaper.. but cheaper all the same.
