A buddy mine has a cheap consumer Canon home photo printer and is looking for recommendation of paper type and the best Toronto spots to buy it.

Any suggestions?

I only print once in a while at home and I like the HP premium photo papers (matte and glossy). You can buy them at Staples or Grand & Toy.

I've got the canon pro9000 photo printer.

I have printed with a few brands... and I think I like Epson the best.

Depending on how it's mounted later, I really like the matte or lustre. glossy's just too shiny, especially if you're framing it in glass. The glass will make it shiny for you

I usually grab it either at stapes or henry's. depends on whether I want the 13 by 19 or just the regular letter size.

I pick up cheap photo paper (8x10) at Shoppers specially the Fuji that go on sale. For this type of paper, I only use it for the weekly print maintenance to avoid clogging the heads.

I print on three types of paper depending on what I need it for.

For my every day printing I just use ordinary photocopy paper.

For my medium stuff that has rich graphics I use coated inkjet paper.

For the good stuff I use glossy which is thicker and stiff.

I don't really bother with sticking to my printer's brand...sometimes I get Epson, sometimes I get Kirkland (from Costco).

I print at home often, all sizes 4x6 through to 13x19 on an epson r2400. Paper wise I really like Epsons stuff. Very reasonable priced. On occasion I have used Henrys house brand and been quite happy with it to, especially their satin papers.
