I have the GF1 with the 20mm 1.7.
Also have a k-mount adapter to work with mainly my Super Takumar 55mm 1.8 (with a m42 adapter) though I do have other Pentax lenses I can use.

The Oly cameras are quite amazing (though I have yet to play with the EPL1). Reason I went with the GF1 was
1) Optional EVF (EP2 wasn't out yet)
2) Much faster AF (IMO anyhow, though I haven't checked with the newer Olys and newer firmwares)
3) Cost (wasn't about to get an Oly then also get the Panny 20mm)
4) And most importantly it just felt better in 'my' hands.

But because of that I sacrificed on IBIS, JPEG colours, slightly better high ISO, and frankly better looks. (And of course better VF that didn't exist at the time of my decision...though there are rumours that Panny is coming out with another EVF)

Love my GF1 but seriously, they all are amazing cameras and so much better than any compact p&s.

Just a note to those who may be considering getting the Olympus ED 40-150mm 4.0-5.6 check out the Source. You may have some trouble getting your hands on one (though I did see one a couple of months ago) but if you can, you can get one new for $100

http://www.thesource.ca/estore/product. ... ct=1614015

Still considering but Panny is supposedly coming out with a 100-300mm sometime this year so may just wait for that.

Oh and as for the Panny 14-140mm...considering the cost, I would just opt for the Oly 14-150mm when it comes out (if it hasn't already). Should be about $200-$300 cheaper. Of course if you have have a Panasonic M43, then you wouldn't have IS.
The Panny 14-140mm is only worth the $$$ if you do video IMO as it is specially optimized for video (silent AF etc.).

Oh, and one last thing, as for adapters, I just got a cheapie $15 (with free shipping) k-mount to m43 adapter off E-bay from China. Wasn't about to spend $80-150 from one of the main third-party guys.
It has so far worked absolutely perfectly.
So assuming the reputation is good, getting a cheap adapter from e-bay is probably perfectly fine.

Though, I'm not sure about four-third to micro four-third adapters...if you get a no-name adapter would the lenses still autofocus?

Not everyone has been lucky with the cheapie adapters. One person at one of the earlier FourThirds meets had a cheapie OM adapter, and was surprised that I didn't have to press the DOF preview button on my Olympus brand OM adapter to close down the aperture every time I wanted to take a shot.

On the cheapie adapter they didn't bother to install the needed "finger" that holds down the lever that activates the lever, so every time that person has to hold down the DOF preview button on their lens to do the same thing.

Someone else's cheapie I tried the lever was in the wrong place so that the aperture lever would hit the stop before the lens locking pin would engage.

There have also been situations in which a cheap adaptor has mangled the lens contacts, or the user has been unable to remove it.

is there a cheaper 43-m43 adapter out there than the official Olympus one? Didn't see anything on a very quick scan of ebay.

That's horrible.
I guess that's where the line "You get what you pay for" comes in.

In that case I guess I might have been just lucky (or my adapter was particularly simple). Though I do make a point of checking out the seller as much as possible so that may have helped.

Just for kicks, I used the E-P2 for a model shoot. FL-36R mounted for fill with Demb Flipit & diffuser. Used FP mode for high speed sync. There were harsh shadows due to tall, leafless trees and bright sunlight:

wanted to mention I got my E-P1 w 14-42 and 20mm f/1.7 this week... but have been too busy to even read the manual or play with it much. hope to rectify that this weekend. Still, I love the feel of the thing, don't mind the lack of EVF as much as I feared and am just enjoying it. And the fact that the entire rig is lighter than just one of the lenses for my 5D, it's a joy to carry around.

Congrats! You are going to find yourself taking a lot more photographs now, as the E-P1 will be with you @ most times ;)

Thanks Rob i had no idea they made that. But its for the 17MM so it won't be perfect on with my 20mm. I'm thinking a 35mm fullframe viewer might work well though too.

I'm meeting up with him to get my 2x TC back and return his 17mm F2.8 to him. Apparently he'll have the first u4/3 9-18mm lens in town with him, so I'll get to take a few shots with that :)

Rob, that's awesome. Can ya take some building shots @ 9mm and let us know how the distortion is? Thx.

You don't want one Alan.

(You want to wait until a high-end one with a built-in viewfinder is released.)

Question about image stabilization. I understand that the Olympus cameras have in body image stabilization - does this also work in movie mode, or only for still images? And on the flip side, does the Panasonic in lens image stabilization work for both still and movie mode?

Not sure about Panasonic, but my E-P2 does IS for both stills and movies. Cheers.

Cool thanks. I would think the Pany would do both as well then with an IS lens.

Took the GF1 w/pancake out to Lake Wilcox for some quick test shots. Pics are not processed - not bad at all for a "little" camera. :)
