So I've found out that renting a space that will seat 12-40 people will be $50/hr and a space that will seat 8-12 people will be $25/hr.

The last time we had this session, we only had 10 people show if I remember correctly.

If we get 10 people showing and a $10 fee, should easily cover 2hrs for the large room.

Thoughts?

Great idea.
First, let's get a sense of who is really interested in this by a rolling list. I for one am in. See bottom of post.

Second, we need to establish a date and that may take a financial comittment on our part.

Third, we do a signup sheet (maybe in a new thread) and get people to comitt to paying $10. We need at least ten people for this to work.

Fourth, any additonal funds can be put towards the TPMG operating fund.

List:
1- Jamesy

agreed :)

Also, we should get a feel if this is going to be a more intermediate session or a beginning (getting to know LR) session. I offer to do the beginner session if required.

List:
1- Jamesy
2 - Justin - intermediate

Not yet - we are getting a sense of interest, if there is suffiecient interest then we would need a financial comittment to book the facility and secure a date.

David, I am opposite to you - I only have basic PS skills and but medium in terms of LR. I am sure you will be an asset to the group :)

maybe a quick description of both will help, this should make it easier.

Beginner - Understand that Lightroom is a photo program that will make my life easier. Haven't used it at all, or much and understand that it is an editor and a workflow manager. If you've opened it once or twice before, and got overwhelmed, its ok, we've all been there before.

Intermediate - Actively use LR, and have your own workflow. You understand all the editing features and tools, and can work with different presets. Looking to fine tune your workflow? Looking to find those secret tools that others may use that will save you 45 secs per photo?

I hope this helps everyone. Don't be shy at all, as its a pretty cool program, once you get to know it :D ... it has good "personality"

Great descriptions Justin. Just to be clear is this LR only or PS too? JR had mentioned earlier about shooting, LR and onto PS - a complete workflow exercise. I would be interested in seeing that end to end.

How about everyone else?

Well, I remember that earlier in the thread, and I'm completely open to that.

If its basics in PS as well, I think we can manage that also.

I would probably suggest that the Shooting-->LR-->PS be more for the intermediate class. The beginner class will be able to touch on it, but not to really dive too much into it since there is a lot of ground to cover in LR on its own.

If its a workflow we're working on in intermediate, i would suggest everyone can bring a memory card to the session with shots either take that day or prior, and then can step through the entire process. That way, you can concentrate more on the workflow than doing the shoot as well.

Thoughts?

How about we book for three hours ($150) and do LR beginner, intermediate and a basic into PS for a retouch (some basic edits) and back into LR?

We also need to figure out who is teaching, what we need to bring and wo is bringing it.

Justin, where is this place? Does the $50/hour include taxes? Is that a weekend price? Is there a half verses by the hour price?

Just throwing it out there - how would Sat April 17th work?

I'll check on those questions today... I think that weekend is out for me personally, but I'll check with head office.

I think the rates are the same weekend or weekday. If not, how about Tues, April 13th?
say from 7-10pm?

The church is at Bloor and Jarvis. Its St. Paul's on Bloor, and its really close to Bloor Street station.

Thanks Justin!

Wednesdays tend to work much better for me for this type of thing - how April 14th?

I'm good with Wednesdays but to avoid the onslaught of confusion let me set the records straight and say that the dates are Wed April 14th or Wed April 21st. :)
