TCS price is pretty good since you don't have to pay PST.

This weekend I have to go to Ohio so it gave me an idea that perhaps we should try looking for a better price in US.
I was told that all you have to do is purchase the lens and attach it to the camera and make is seem like you had it for a while.
The box with the receipt can be mailed to your home so you cross the boarder without it.
As far as I know the warranty is transferable so it would be no problem.

I would not mind taking a trip like that if I could combine it with some cool places to shoot.

Waiting a little bit could also help. I got my 7D a week after it came out.
I ended up paying $ 2,100.00 (body only) and you can now get one for $1795.00 at the same store.

McBain's is another out-of-province price that's competitive to TCS.

How does a group buy work? Do we go to the store all at once or can we do it individually etc? Cash, credit or both? Thx.

I think we (at least I) gave up on the group buy idea.... too high a dollar value means too much risk for something to go wrong. It is an idea for smaller value items like filters and stuff.

You mean like someone would take the money and run?
If you talk to a store and organize a group buy, there's no need for everyone to do it at the same time. They'll probably will give you a special discount code and a time frame. Those who use that code will be able to get that negotiated price.

sigh...I am still waiting for Canon to man up and open up their CPS. It's been a year and they still don't accept any new memberships...They should rename it to C(POS)PS   :)

I'd be willing to bet that it's grey market.

And some of the comments on CR are absolute GOLD.

I thought they do but I guess they are not for special order items.

Come on Carlton, you know it's a good deal. Good for it. I don't think Amazing is going to get it anytime soon.

Haha, trust me, the wheels are turning in my head since last week. Even more so was when Spencer and I did a side by side test between the 70-200 f2.8 non-IS, 70-200 f4 IS and 70-200 f2.8 MKII. Getting sharp images hand held at 1/30" at 200mm f2.8 was "mind blasting!" Not to mention, I have a big shoot this upcoming Friday too.

Don't delay, there is already someone interested in that last lens... in case that falls through...

So the 3 of us (Spenser, riellanart and myself ) each picked up brand new 70-200 II with receipt from Henrys for full warranty for only $2500. Yes, it's true and we are now happy owners of this amazing lens. Thanks to those who responded but the last one has been picked up by riellanart.

Thanks again WKHC, for sourcing and referring. And you too Carlton, for letting me know. I love this lens! Just waiting for my 77mm B+W UV to come in from HK, then it's complete :)

Cheers and happy shooting!

I am debating on putting a filter on it. You sent $2500 for the high quality glass, why would you put a $80 piece of glass in front of it? Would the hood be protective enough?
