Hey all, anyone here use an external battery source to power their Speedlights (Nikon or Canon). More specifically, does anyone have any experience with the Yongnuo version?

http://cgi.ebay.ca/External-Flash-Batte ... 3ca97fa4a1

Heck of a lot cheaper than the OEM versions.

Thanks!

I received mine last week for my Sony F-58. Works exactly as advertised, although it does mean carrying 12 batteries in total (4 in the flash and 8 in the battery pack). It can be attached to the tripod mount on the bottom of your camera, but it sticks out too much and transitioning from the horizontal grip to the vertical grip isn't as smooth; I'd prefer to use the included belt pouch.

Thanks for the info. Glad to know it works. I'll be wearing the battery unit on my belt. Having that unit with 8 batteries, plus a flash, vertical grip and a 70-200 f2.8 on it would be quite the workout! ACK!

I have the original (CP-E3) for my 580EX. I m using rechargeable batteries, it can give more consecutive fire power & the recycle time is much shorter.

You mean as in and AC adapter version? That would be cool too if you were going to use it in a studio type setting or in your home etc.

Alien Bees has one for strobes (Vagabond). Or you can get them from Canadian Tire but can't use them with strobes.
