Just picked up 2 of these moneysinks. They're on sale for $155 each at Downtown Camera, and since Henry's does PM, also at Henry's.

Buy RF-602 from ebay. Just as good in my opinion. Humble as it may be.

Have you compared the two head-to-head? I'm curious as to your findings.

I've used pocket wizards before...I bought a bunch of the 602's...the 602's are cheaper and just as reliable. the 602's trigger reliably from a football field away. They trigger your camera as well as your flashes.

I loaned them to my friend for a professional shoot because he misplaced his wizards. He was visibly worried about using them. But he had no choice. The very next day he ordered a set. He could not tell the difference.

I already have 3 sets of Elinchrom Speedport transmitter/receiver units. There is the odd time I shoot with another photographer who uses Pocketwizards with his stuff when I don't carry my studio lighting gear. I might get just the one transceiver for such an instance.

Zone555 was telling me about the same RF-602's a little while back. Pretty affordable and so far, all reports I've read are favourable.

Oh, sorry to thread jack a bit but has anyone used the RF-602's or PocketWizard Plus units with a Nikon D700 and studio strobes at 1/250" without curtain drag issues?

Love my RF-602s - can trigger my camera and a whole array of flashes with the push of a button. I love it in the studio as I can work directly with my subject, step back, fire a few shots, make some changes, and fire again. Especially useful with talent, as you can talk to them more casually and fire off shots discretely, much better for capturing a non-forced pose or expression. Now if only I could get it to work with my light meter (Sekonic 358 w/ RF unit).

one thing that I would love it to do is trigger both shutter release and flash at the same time, tried - not working :?

You need two triggers...

one trigger / receiver on channel one to trigger your camera. Another trigger / receiver set for your flashes on channel 2.

If you use only one trigger the timing will be off and the flashes will pop too early.

That's the only part I'd love to have improved somehow, would be cool to do this with just one trigger, anyway it does more than any other

I have a set of Elinchrom, can I mix these with the PW or do I have to use one that is all of the same brand?
