Any suggestions for a filter case, or better way of organizing one's filters?

With a bunch of previous HVStar (now Maxsaver) orders, I got these really nice Tiffen filter cases for free, but they won't fit 77mm filters.

So in the meantime I've been using the square shaped cases that come with my B+W filters... but I have so many of them that I often misplace one of the filters I need the most, so I'd rather have one container to check for to put in my camera bag. Suggestions?

Use the case. Those split ND Grads you bought last Sun will be useless when scratched. I just cut off the labels on packaging, stuck them to the case and it works for me.

I got a Tiffen filter case from maxsaver as well. I recently got mine about a month ago. I've never used it, and don't think I will. I put my 77mm lens cap in, and it fits in all 4 slots.

I have no use for this, if you want it, pm me. I'll give it to you absolutely free.

Lowenpro makes a filter wallet (called a filter pocket). They hold up to six filters per wallet. It is a soft case that folds twice with plastic slots which hold the filters. They work fine and they are not overly expensive (I bought mine from Henrys downtown). The filter pockets hold filters up to 77mm (though I don't think larger). I have a filter pocket for each size filter (72mm, 77mm, Bay 60) and just grab the appropriate filter pocket when I'm packing my gear.

Yup, I've got this one and have a 2 77mm ND Grad's and a CP along with the step down rings in it. Works like a charm and was really cheap.

Sorry, I should have clarified. I was referring to my threaded filters, not the square glass ones. I got a cokin case for those cokin P's specifically, but the round filters wouldn't stay inside the pockets of that one.

D'oh.

The Tiffen case will fit my 77mm filters. I think when I checked it back in the day I was checking if the square B+W cases would fit in said filter case, but those wouldn't.

That being said, does anyone have anything bad to say about storing them like this?

same thread? stack 'em. i have tried to use the pockets, including lowepro--bulky and awkward in the field. a stack with caps worked best (i.e. two hands were enough to change a filter 8) )

I think for filters you need something that will provide good protection - This summer I fell backwards onto my camera backpack while trying to climb over a large rock (luckily didn't damage anything important - well some dings in my tripod that was attached). But my filter cases (that came with my filters) all cracked - the filters were ok. I think I am going to get some stack caps for them. I actually have a set of 62mm to hold my nikon close-up filters - great for protecting them.

I've seen a thread on another forum about this subject.

some were saying the soft soft cases, especially the ones with mesh pockets will imprint the mesh pattern on the filter eventually.
