I am thinking of getting to the 7D, but I have been reading a lot of mixed
reviews. For those that have it, how have you found it? The main concern is the autofocusing system. Have you found it to be consistent and getting the results that you expected?

I have the 7D and a 1Dm2, and the 7D is just as good as the 1Dm2.

Here's a couple of examples of what I've been shooting. Keep in mind how fast a duck flies (quite fast), this one coming at me head on which is probably the most difficult scenario and this was after the sun had set.

Iso 3200, 1/500 EF400/5.6 @ f5.6 handheld.

The shots are consecutive @ 8fps. Target was acquired in under 1 second.

I don't own a 7D but I hope to one day. I think it`s given me the confidence to keep buying EFS mount lenses. Before this camera came out I kept saying "when I upgrade it's full frame or nothing". The 7D changed that. I think the sample shots are great.

Hi

I purchased a 7d and tested it for a week before downgrading to the 50d. Personally I really like the 7d ... it felt good i my hands and responded very quickly. The auto focus system was also very accurate compared to the older 9 point system. One item which I found very interesting is how well the exposure system handled a natural light beam hitting the wall in my living room while the room was lit by halogens.

Why did I downgrade? I did some tests shooting my beige leather couch (which has a harsh grain) from iso 400 to 3200. From 1600 and up I noticed the 7D was considerably cleaner. Then I looked at the RAW files and I noticed a lot of noise which was whipped out in the JPEG's. It was a really turn off because I could see all the detail which went with the in camera processing.

Personally the 7d cost $1000 more but the lack of detail in the image and noise is quite a bit higher. I think if your going to spend this kind of money it would be better to go full frame.
