The 602s are quite reliable. For the money it's a no brainer imho. I'm still not selling my PWs but I wouldn't hesitate getting a few more receivers.

my only grouse with the system is the lack of a locking mechanism on the transmitter. When shooting outdoors, I've developed a tic to check the transmitter every 47 seconds or so. Even so, I've dropped the TX a few times with no issues whatsoever

You may need to bend down your camera hot shoe a bit Mike. Mine's very snug.

heh. between bending and possibly screwing up a camera hot shoe and maybe sticking some tape to fatten the foot, I'm going with the latter, thank you! :P

ok, so i must admit i am a bit of a noob when it comes to studio-type flash photography, and with much embarrassment, i must ask:

to wirelessly trigger an sb600 i would need 1 transmitter (mounted on top of my hotshoe) and 1 receiver (mounted on the flash), correct?

this would let me set up my flash in one corner of the room, and shoot from the other corner (sans "commander mode" flash from my built-in camera flash)?

the group buy did not actually happen. More like everyone went off and bought the sets on their own anyway.

Unless, of course, you'd like to start a group buy! I'm sure there are people who'd be interested in getting spare kits (they're so inexpensive

Mine took 3 weeks to show up. At the time I was told there was a Chinese holiday which delayed the order.

I think DealExtreme has 602s now. However, the reviews said that its a hit or miss. $30 USD for trigger + receiver. 1 tx +1 rx

For nikon users,

what is the difference between when using the commander mode on camera or with the receivers?
considering all are going to be used within a reasonable distance (~10m)

Commander requires sorta line of sight to hit the infrared sensor and also provides CLS whereas the triggers are radio triggered and only work in manual (someone correct me if I am wrong)

Ok I just received mine and one thing I noticed is that they don't wake my speedlite from sleep mode. I hear this ticky noise on the receiver and my camera gets stuck in buffer mode. what's the deal!??!?!

ok so i finally understand how the shutter thingy works and see what you are saying about not being able to use it at the same time as triggering the flashes. If i just buy any random Tx (canon / pentax etc) can i still use it as my remote shutter as long as i have the pins set correctly?
