Hi All,

I recall some time ago when I was researching this lens (for the four thirds camera body) that you can get the back focusing issues fixed for free (under warranty) from Sigma in Toronto. I've searched through the forums, but for some reason I cannot find any information about where to go to get the lens recalibrated/fixed. From what I have found so far, the only place is Gentec. Is this correct?

Can I just go in and drop the lens off? Or do i have to send it in?

Thanks guys,

Craig

You can drop it off in person at Gentec International in Markham.

Also suggest sending a PM to "Rob MacLennan"...he has this lens in FourThirds mount.

When I had this lens years ago I had to send it to Gentec for calibration. Took a few times and serious documentation with photos to prove that it was still misfocusing. They eventually got it right after repeated visits.

As a matter of fact I had it with me at the last meet and will likely have it at the next. Mine seems to be a good copy.

would they take any warranty or Canadian only? Is that just a warranty card or a receipt neccessary?

I took mine in and told them the approximate time of when I purchased the lens and didn't have the proof of purchase, etc. and they still took it in. Your luck my vary.

I have brought several Sigma lens to Gentec for calibration with verying levels of customer service over the years. It all depends who's working the desk.

Recently brought one in for calibration with the bill and was treated very suspiciously and rudely by the guy at the desk. In the end he told me i would have to pay.(something like 50 or 80$ i think) for the recalibration. When i went to pick it up there was a different guy behind the counter, didn't charge me for the repair and apologized for the lens issues.

Either way my lens have always been returned to me focusing 100% bang on.
