Why not just use photostream from icloud. Make a folder in your PC, drag pictures into it, it shows up on the ipad.

While a good suggestion, I believe the photostream from iCloud only sync's the last 30 days (although if I only plug in my iPad once every 30 days, I could let iTunes and iCloud sync from the same folder...

On 2nd consideration, this may be an interesting enhancement that I will look into.

Unfortunately, it doesn't solve my initial criticism of the iOS photos application, which is that you cannot create sub-albums.

you can save pics from photostream locally
