The Guild Inn in Scarborough is a classic place for engagement shoots but I think you need a permit there.

too bad you dont want to use non-pros. You could have put this on Craigslist and make some money on giving engaged couple a free shoot with 10 photographers and getting back like 1,000 engagement pics! :)

I understand what you mean. If i were to do that then i can just get every to bring their partners and would shoot each other, no need to go to CL. The problem with this is that the 'couple' would be benefitting more from the shoot.

We want photographers to benefit from the shoot.

Honestly i would rather pay and get 100 beautiful photos with beautiful people than get 1,000 hit-and-miss photos.

My 2 cents anyway

agreed

I was only joking, but yeah. this way increases your "hit" ratio. 100 beautiful photos from a session? wow, I usually max out at up to 6 per shoot. ha ha

The permit requirements are pretty similar across TO parks (and GTA in some cases). I like the Guildwood with its classic backgrounds.

Technically since this would not be wedding photography or a commercial activity (no one is being paid to present the class) and you might not need a permit based on the descriptions on the Park and Rec web site. But some uncivil service Nazi would likely show up and get all officious.

Maybe if you talked to the city they might agree that it is not a permit activity and would provide some letter to that effect that could be used if someone did show up.

Hahaha. I totally need to start visiting TPMG site more often. I'm always late for this kind of stuff.

Waiting list for me. :)

Please please let me know if you're dropping out on the June 4's workshop. I might not be able to make it for the June 11. Thanks in advance!

Make that 3 votes. I've never been to Guildwood.

Other good locations would be Edward Gardens, Distillery District etc.

Would High Park be a viable alternative to Guild Inn?
Less likely to run into photo-police, plus there is more variety. We'd miss the old stonework so commonly seen in wedding and other shoots but we have trees and grass at High Park, and also the pond with water (is there a dock?) and willows at the water's edge. We also have the outdoor cafe. I'd love some shots of the couple at an outdoor cafe table.

I'm thinking more real-life shots than the staged-looking, posed Guild Inn portraits.

Yes, High Park is also a very good location. Honestly speaking I would prefer shooting here.

+1 for High Park. A better location in my opinion.

I'd like to change my vote to High Park and I'm ok to chip in my share of the fee, if required.

i think this may go a little more wayward than we'd want...

given someone or a couple's sexual orientation, shouldn't be treated any differently
