We used Camtasia at work, it's extremely polished, though might be slightly overkill. A few of my co-workers that teach at George Brown also use it to create content for their students.

It is a bit pricey, but if it's something you got into more well worth it.

It helps to know when asking a question like this whether you use PC, Mac, or Linux!

Search for downloading youtube videos in google. If the videos are flash then the files are often readily available for download as an swf file through firefox. As for for copyright, it's no different then using a vhs tape to record a show, or a PVR. You've paid for the videos, use them as much as you'd like, just don't distribute them.

Personally I use Flashgot (a plug-in for Firefox) which allows me to download YouTube and videos from most other video sites in FLV format.

I have a VGA recorder at work. Records any VGA signal and dumps it to DVD.

We don't actually know if he's paid for the videos where he can view them multiple times or if he's paid for a viewing which would have been scheduled at a certain time. If it's the latter, it would be unlawful to record it and play it back again (case in point, watching a movie at a movie theater).
