NCIX has the second generation "Tones" for $49.99 for a pack of 8: http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=55257.
Since you're in Scarborough you can pick them up at their Scarborough pickup location on Midland just north of Finch and avoid shipping fees.

I'm about to purchase another pack of these so I'm also interested if anyone has found them cheaper than this.

Costco had great prices for them but the Ajax store no longer carries them. Don't know it is the same for all locations,

For $16.99 price for four seems like the best. 1000x vs 1500x times for the Tones, I doubt I'll ever hit 1000x before the battery itself dies - as I'm assuming these thing usually have a finite number of years and don't last forever even if you don't reach 1000 charges.

If you are willing to wait, absolute cheapest is at shopper's drug mart. White-top Duracell that shopper's sells is rebranded eneloops. When on sale they will go for $6-8 per pack of 4. Both AA and AAA.

I'll probably just stick with the Eneloops.

I don't know if this is true or not, but given that P&G owns Duracell, I wouldn't be surprised :)

The 2nd Generation Eneloops (Tones) also retain their charge better and seem to have slightly more capacity. If you don't care too much about any of that, Costco.ca has the 1st Generation for $49.99 for 16 AA's, shipping & handling included.

The 2nd gen Eneloops doesn't seem to perform any better than the 1st gen.

SO if you don't need that extra 500 cycles, you're just paying for the colours :)

More charts that you'll ever want to stare at:

This is definitely your best bet. Between my gear + a baby, I'm always running out of batteries lol.

The Real Canadian Superstore sells a similar white-top rechargable battery that I've read is also a rebranded Eneloop.

If you want the original Eneloops, Canada Computers often has them on sale or as others have mentioned you can usually get them from Dell.

There is also https://www.nicapower.com/ in Mississauga. Currently $13.50 for a 4-pack of AAs

Yeah, I remember hearing that custom branded white tops from loblaws/RCS (President's Choice?) are also the same. But as Tanner mentioned, you should verify manufactured country before buying if you decide to get those later on.

I wouldn't be surprised if the white-top duracells are made in china. You know the whole cost of manufacturing and everything for the price that they go for compared to the eneloops. From what I've read, rayovac's are using the same battery tech but just made in china.

Well, if you only use them once every 3 years in wintertime you'll be pleased to know that the 2nd gen Eneloops would still have 75% of their charge, and would work even if it happened to be -20

The Duracell white-tops have "Made in Japan" printed on the packaging.

Sanyo have new 2500mAh batteries names XX:
http://www.eneloop.info/products/batter ... eloop.html

I have yet to find them offered anywhere though.

I got my most recent Eneloops (gen 1) through a sale at Dell. There is nothing better price wise, than what has already been mentioned:

FYI, the ones being sold by CC with the charger (ECH420):

http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_ ... _id=033377

The website says that this one comes with the MQN09 charger but it actually comes with the MQN06U.

Not to stray off topic, I picked up a maha c9000 charger, works excellent. I had four batteries I've been using together and for some reason, these relatively new batteries didn't last long. Determined that two of the four had only 1500mah capacity compared to the 2300maH capacity of the other two. The eneloops from CC, while they haven't been broken in yet completely, are about 1500-200maH under the expected 2000maH.

The charger also charges each battery individually vs pairs thus eliminating the risk of overcharging one battery.

+1 for the Maha C9000.

I picked one up a few months ago and ran a break-in on all my batteries and determined you get what you pay for.

All of my tigerDirect UltraPro's only hold 60-80% of the rated load whereas Enelopps are anywhere from 95-105% of the rated capacity.

+2 for the Maha C9000. It's a worthwhile investment.
After a discharge and break-in cycle my Eneloop Tones averaged 2,025mAh at 1.47V.

I got mine at Thomas Distibuting and it came with the free carry bag - really nice - I transport a DSLR body in it at times.

The CDN alternative is Paul's Finest:

They are not cheap, both in cost or quality!
