I'm currently using a D90 and have been since it was introduced two years ago. I'm curious if any forum members have upgraded to the D7000 and deem it to be a worthy upgrade from the D90?

If you did (or didn't) upgrade, why or why not?

Are you not the guy that's selling this on another thread that's now locked? Now you're asking us if it's worth the u/g? You must be new to sales!

I'm still waiting for the answer to my other question...lol.

why don't you give yourself the same answer as you would to a person asking you this in the store

lol yes very observant of you ;)

To be honest I haven't had a chance to play around with the camera myself that much, just a few shots at work.

I have sold a few but the camera has basically been selling itself so far. People seem to know they want it and come in and pick it up.

Even though I'm in sales I don't force anything on anyone; my philosophy is to make sure customers are buying the right product for themselves and not because a pushy salesperson is forcing it on them.

I'm well aware of the specs and differences between the two but was wondering if anyone had a chance to test it out in the field and wanted to get a variety of opinions.

I'm a hobbyist first, salesperson second ;)

then I'd check the reviews probably, but the specs should tell you what the camera is like, unless they added a unique feature of some sort. Upgrading goes hand in hand with requirements. Does your D90 do all you need? If not then see if the D7000 has those features that you lack on D90, it doesn't take a sales person to think it through, don't be lazy
That is unless you just want a new toy...
and try not to break rules of this forum as well :D

I'm trying not to resist the urge to buy it just for the sake of having the 'latest and greatest'...my D90 does everything I need for now; but it's a bit high on the shutter count.

I do plan on upgrading this year and I'm torn between buying a D7000 now or waiting a bit for the replacement to the D700.

Maybe I'll pick up some new glass to satisfy my materialist desire in the meantime.

Thanks for the advice.

why is the shutter count even important for you? You're doing photography, don't you? One part of it is pressing the button

What's your shutter count at?

Keep your money and stick with your D90. Not much difference between the 2 cameras in my eyes if photography was a hobby for me.

At about 76,000 right now.

It's important in the sense that it's a high count and might mean the shutter is about to die soon thus requiring the camera to be replaced.

Might just use it until it dies.

Shutter counts are meaningless... D3 shutters can fail at 3000 clicks. D40 shutter can last for 300,000 clicks.

The only thing a shutter count is good for, is finding out how much a used camera has been used.

Enjoy your D90 for another year and replace it with the D7000s, or D8000
