Hi,

Wondering what would be the best filter to use on 18-55mm lens and 55-250mm lens? The 18-55mm would be used often both for indoor and outdoor. The 55-250mm for outdoor primarily. I just want something to protect the lens. Would a UV lens be okay? Would it hurt indoor shots?

Thanks :)

most people put a UV filter on their lens to protect the lens more than anything. I don't use any filters unless I intend to - such as a polarizer or ND.

If you're afraid of something, put a UV on the lens, better get a multi-coated to minimize affects

I agree, but do consider that a hi quality 52mm filter will cost more than 50% of an used copy of the said lens. In case of 18-55mm, if yours is non-VR, an used unit can be had for about the same price than a good B+W filter...
