It's done in the style of a theme song for TV series that had robot characters in them. Kind of like power rangers, etc, where the main reason to watch the show was to look at giant robots fighting each other.

Doesn't ring a bell from my childhood. Only robot fighting cartoons I know was Transformers and Dinobots. Other than that, Starblazers and G-force. :P
