I have a quick trouble shooting question related to a Nikon battery charger.

I went to charge my battery and the light came on like normal, then the light went off and stayed off.

I don't think that it is charging the battery.

Anyone run into this problem ?

Is the charger shot ? Is the battery shot ?

I purchased the camera used and am the second owner. I don't shoot alot, mainly my kids.

I haven't used the camera for a while now and just went to take it out for a family Christmas photo.

Now the battery charger is giving me trouble.......

Any help is greatly appreciated, sorry for the long drawn out story.

I don't know about Nikon but here are some troubleshooting tips:

- try to get your hands on another battery and/or charger and try different combinations of charger and battery.
- with a voltmeter measure the battery voltage. If it is way below the nominal voltage then the battery is dead.

On the hind side, you shouldn't allow lithium batteries to discharge completely which is what happens if you let an almost discharged battery sitting unused for a while.

It would help if you post what model number charger and battery you are using. Different chargers act differently!

Obviously something is wrong, and where you should start is the charger's manual (and posting the model numbers of course).

Just buy another battery. If you are not brand loyal, the ebay ones cost about $20.
