I know I'll probably get trashed for the selective colour, however I wanted to take the focus off that huge yellow plant @ his feet

Not sure if you shoot RAW or not but with ACR/Lightroom you can easily use the local adjustment brushes to desaturate/blur/darken only that area. Or it an be done in Photoshop/PS Elements as well with layer masks.
