Hi All,

I see that Henry's has an Epson 1400 printer on sale right now for $249. To me that looks like a good deal but I thought I would ask around for anyone's thougts on this printer? Has anyone had experience with it? (good or bad) I am interested in getting a printer as I have two "print on site" jobs lined up next year.

Also, would anyone know what the price per print is on this printer? I have searched the web and can't come up with anything.

Does anyone have any other affordable printers to recommend?

thanks in advance,

Stavy

It's a great printer, but pretty ink hungry. I haven't done an analysis but I think that I get about fourty 11"x14" prints out of a set, and pay a little over $120.00 for a full set of inks.

It will do up to 13"x19" prints or 13" wide banners, if you can find paper. I would estimate that I get between 25 and 30 prints at 13"x19" out of a set of inks.

The quality of print is quite good, in my estimation, and I've had great comments from people who have bought both matte and gloss prints from me. I've always been skeptical about such things, but I really get best results with Epson paper.

No regrets.

It's a great printer, but as said above you will go through ink FAST. I've only done a few 11x14, and the ink isn't cheap. Anyone know a good source for cheaper Claira ink??

I also own an R1400 and combined with a calibrated monitor it does produce great results. If you want economy per print, you're probably better off going a lot higher in the Epson line up, to the 3800/3800 model which uses 80ml ink cartridges. However, if you are like me and don't make prints that often then the 1400 is the way to go.

Yeah I saw that but their prices aren't that great. I was hoping someone had a source in China or something, cause I would use this printer so much more if the ink were more affordable.
