$399... hmm interesting... Looks kinda cool but I was expecting a bigger camera... and especially a bigger LCD screen! You can't see crap.

I totally agree. And talk about small sizes... I think it exports to jpeg only too

Looks neat and the enclosure seems to be aluminum, but for $500 I can find a better alternative.

You're missing the point. Take a look at the photos on their site, then put your cursor over any point on the image and click. This camera captures 'multiple images' of each 'image' and the software allows the user to select focus points.

The goal isn't absolute IQ but rather versatility.

This is the first iteration of a new approach to digital imaging.

Focus points and DOF controlled via software not the limitations of lens.

Definitely cool concept for sure

Wonder if this will result in a paradigm shift in consumer cameras where every facebook photo will be able to zoom into the background clear ;)

I see a lot of stalking happening with this now

I have seen it the first time and you are right, I don't get it.

The technology is cool, no doubt about that. what I don't get is why would you want to change the focus points after the fact? specially if you are a photographer who knows how to do this 'during' the shoot?

also, I think that this will always shoot at aperture F2.0 . What if you want everything in focus? what do you do then?

IMHO, this is a toy.

and again the end product is not that good. even after you've chosen your focus point.

I would tend to agree that its gimmicky... it would be great for the facebookers that just "spray and pray". I guess it doesn't mean "pray" anymore though

one thing i find not suitable for my needs is inability to have a large depth of field due to the fixed F2 aperture, plus there is a tonne of chromatic aberrations at infinity, thus making it a toy with limited use. what could be interesting is the fact that you could stack the images to create greater depth of field, but I can already do this with better results with my current camera lol

I think it may be perfect for the casual P&S shoot/blogger/tween/not interested in settings type of shooter.

Maybe there is enough of a market out there. For me, it would be cool for the first 15 mins...

the fact remains, you are only going to show ONE of the various focus point versions, so the rest gets pretty much tossed out. I see only very limited uses for this. Anyone taking a photo should know what they want to focus on and be able to select it with a focus box while shooting.

Maybe on the rare occasion where you shoot a crowd in a rush and dont know who should be in focus, but then again, you can always use a high f stop and get everyone in focus instead. Very limited practical use.

I suspect that in 5 years time all security cameras will use this technology. Not impractical at all.

It gives the shooter choice which is nice for some.

What is wrong with you guys. Who DOESNT want to focus in on aspects of a photo that are inconsequential to the subject?? Look at the photo of the spider. You can see the spider.. or you can look at an awesome photo of some leaves! (with a blurry spider in front).

I would love to get my hands on this camera and take some pictures of me, family, friends, etc, with some messed up crap in the backrgound. Maybe porn or something.

Then the picture looks normal when everyone is in focus, BUT when you change the focus to the background, BOY are you in for a surprise!

If not a revolution, it's definitely a jump in evolution. I predict it will sell like hot cakes once a few celebrities start jumping on the bandwagon .. looks like Coco Rocha is already involved. It may seem gimmicky to serious photographers but it will definitely have it's applications and will be sought after by the masses I'm sure. Where do I buy stocks in this company?
