If anyone find a technical write-up and/or white paper on the construction of this lens please share it. I'm curious to find out how they made a constant 1.8 zoom in such a compact size.

Just like with constant aperture 1.8 zooms for 2/3" video and cine applications (which have been around for ages), the lens designers really benefit from the smaller image circle requirements. APS-C sensors are still considerably larger than 2/3", but I believe this is reflected by the rather small zoom range compared to the video lenses.
