Has anyone tried the difference between the two different versions. Is version III that much better on a prime than the older model. I know the 70-200 f2.8 vII was a big improvement over the previous version, but does this apply to the 2x and worth the upgrade.

I've seen samples and some reviews and the III is a hair sharper and a little better contrast than the II, esp at the corners. I didn't think it was worth it and still have my II. Maybe someone here has some real world experience to chime in.
