Can't find the press release anywhere else but on Nikon rumors.

http://nikonrumors.com/2012/02/06/nikon ... more-32762

Who's running out for one of these now? lol

Edit: Turns out the Nikon Brazil site leaked the info early. I'm sure someone's gonna get wrist slapped.

36.3MP! HOLY CRAP! Are they out to give MF digital cams etc a run? My 5DMKII images are plenty big already! Time for Nikon peeps to start buying BIGGER drives and faster machines for working on these files.

Seriously.... I might as well sell my Mamiya AFD, and stick with digital FX.

Found info on this site too but he could have just as well grabbed it off Nikonrumors.

I wish I could afford this - but looks like its going to be around $4000 (What I saw quoted on one site). While not a bad price for what you get - definitely out of my price range!

Frack, why did they have to make the price so tempting. If it was around 4K I wouldn't even think about it.

Looks like awesome camera! (I would still trade high MP for better speed though)
...now, just where to find all that "pocket change" to get one... /sigh
I am set to get it, just not sure when I will have the cash.

D800 comes with the mandatory computer upgrade ;)

I was going to get a new macbook pro.... but now after seeing the D800, not sure if I should go for the upgrade on camera or computer first.

Don't need a new computer ... just need a bigger hard-drive! I am already running a pretty fast quad core.

Taking a step back, how much of a jump is it from the D700?

Big steps - 36MP is a huge jump from 12.1, but if you dont need it, it might slow you down
Video - aimed at the Canon 5DMk2 - big change

Otherwise, does the D700 really lag behind if these two features are not that important to those thinking of upgrading?
Does it have the web-operation of the D4 or the cool illuminated buttons? I didn't see that.
