I just picked up a NEX-5N last week. I like it, and the price it not bad (700 all in). However, I am wondering if it's worthwhile to return it and go with the NEX-7? It's a full 2x as expensive, but I do like the ergonomics of it, and the tweaking allowed with the three dials. The viewfinder is a nice touch, mostly when shooting on a bright day. Also, someone told me that the 18-55mm that comes with the NEX-7 is an upgraded version of the normal 18-55 with slightly better optics and less distortion. Not sure if that is true.

Would love to hear your opinnions on which is better.

i went to Sony store and tested nex7 and i used nex 5n before ...
nex 7 is better:

1. viewfinder
2. hot shoe (you can use all flash from sony)
3. more dials

but,

i am not sure it's worth spending 2x more money :)

Just my opinion ...

It really is all up to you, and your budget. I'm sporting the NEX-7 and absolutely love it, especially the number of dials and configurable buttons. Is it worth 2x as much for that is something only you can answer. It was for me. :)

Same 18-55mm lens, but only available in black with the NEX-7 kit. I upgraded from an NEX-5 (not the 5N).
Depending on the lens, the NEX-7 is much more demanding of quality optics than the NEX-5 (especially adapted wides).
