I can't remember if it's this fisheye or another old Nikon that requires the camera to be in MLU mode to even physically mount...

This one and a few other ones (7mm, 8mm, and/or 9mm) all require MLU. They had at least 2 or 3 extreme fisheyes from that era.

Apparently if you have a small enough finger or plastic tool you can hold the mirror up while mounting the lens with cameras that don't have the proper MLU.

I stand corrected.... This 6mm somehow offers through the lens viewing and focusing. The 6mm f5.6, 7.5mm f5.6, 8mm f8 all require MLU. The 6mm and 8mm f2.8s do not.

I did a very brief search for some image samples and couldn't find any - anyone know where some are?

The peephole definitely has less vignetting.

There was a video of it.
Tres lame if you ask me. Especially for the cost.

On the plus side, you can't complain about soft corners.
