Nikon USA just lowered their D700 MSRP to US$2199. Any idea what the current MSRP is in Canada?

Buy from US then. Is there any known problem with D700 which requires warranty work? We can always send D700 to Nikon US for warranty, right? Anyone try that?

It is not my intend to start a debate about US vs Canadian prices. ie NOT "why are US prices, after accounting for exchange rate, much lower than Canadian prices?"

I am just saying that Nikon USA lowered their MSRP for D700 by US$500 as of today. Did Nikon Canada also lower their price, and if so, by how much.

used prices on CL and Kijiji seem to be all over the map, hovering around the $2000 mark. some with grip, some without. perhaps it'll drop further once the 800 is actually out.

You may note that most, if not all, Canadian retailers indicate "out of stock" for D700. So I asked The Camera Store in Alberta when they will get more D700s.

The Camera Store told me that Nikon Canada has indicated that there will be no new supply of D700s for Canada. Only US and Europe will get new supply.

I got the same story thru my dealer. On top of that, his Nikon rep threw in a "free" warning that any D700 bought in the US won't be serviced at Nikon Canada.

Gentlemen, when you sell your D700, I would love to have a first look.

I guess that there is a room for another FX camera below D800, even if D400 is a DX.

20K is not bad for a professionally used camera... I used mine for more of my fine art photographic work, and 35k in 2.5 years was what I did...
