For the next 7 weeks, I'll have an A77 with the 16-50/2.8 and 70-300G lenses.

Any tips for getting the maximum sharpness out of these lenses? I have never used Sony gear before.

(I've been given the equipment from Sony Canada to work on a project for The Artist Project exhibition I'm in next March)

Because of oil stains on the sensor.

It's nice that the a77 has micro-focus adjustment. Perhaps calibrate as the first step.

I know Mawz has the 16-50/2.8, so I'd ask him for his firsthand experience with it.

Maureen has the 70-300 G.

Michael Reichmann has a review of the 16-50: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/revie ... 6_50.shtml

Might I also suggest registering at dyxum.com/dforum and getting some feedback frankly from people more qualified than I.

For post, I know that anything using ACR (Photoshop or lightroom) does not do a particularly good job with Sony Raw files, although Lightroom 3.x is way better than it's predecessors.

If you are using ACR, I will try to dig up some links with colour profiles etc that might be of some help. I believe mawz is using capture one.

Let me know if you find anything interesting. I'm also looking to get the a77 soon, unless they start announcing the FF versions.
After 1 year with the canon 7d, although quality is great, I still can't get too comfortable with its controls. I still prefer the handling of my older a700.
And I still hate the fact that it only does 3 shot bracketing.
