I am expecting a shipment from PCB and was wondering if they will charge any taxes (HST) when the packages are delivered?

I called UPS and they said that there was no brokerage fee, used Worldwide shipping option as recommended by PCB, but the agent couldn't tell me anything about taxes.

Thanks

I have made a few orders from PCB and I haven't paid taxes. Ever.

You'll still get hit with HST.

Shipping option & brokerage makes no difference to the taxes, so budget for the 13%.

Yeah, I usually get a letter/call asking to pay the taxes a couple weeks after the PCB delivery.

I've always had to pay UPS at the door with a cheque.

It's funny how everyone has had different experiences with UPS. Don't they follow some sort of policy and procedure?

Hmmmmm.... I wonder if I haven't been charged HST as I ship to work rather than home (home is my billing address)?

I've actually had both experiences with shipping to my home address. Sometimes they sent me a letter after delivering (like a surprise a week after) and sometimes they wouldn't leave it unless I paid them first. Hate UPS

It's a testament to human stupidity that that sentiment for UPS is so unanimously felt yet they are so consistently used.

In the case of Alien Bees that is the only option for Canadians.

UPS dropped off my new VML and collected GST from me. I guess I should expect a letter soon for my other shipment.

I've ordered many times from PCB via UPS worldwide option. Sometimes they collect taxes/duty on the spot, sometimes they send me a bill a month later - it is inevitable.

I experienced the exact same thing. Made two separate orders, one they collected upon delivery and the other they sent me an invoice later on.

You guys read about this new $10 bond fee? Looks like you should call UPS before your item(s) clears customs.

same here. Paid only taxes and they arrived the next day.

Had a problem with one of the items, sent an email with pic over the weekend and there was a replacement at the door on tuesday.

Its a shame the shipping is so high, sometimes the oversized items cost as much to ship as they do to buy.
