Hey guys. Anyone know where I can buy Sandisk CF 2Gb's for my 10D? I have a hard time finding the 2Gb and the 4Gb cards. And btw, are these normally $30 and up? I would have thought that 4Gb and lower would be much cheaper now that we have 64Gb and up.

don't know if they have sandisk but they have alot of them (including 2 and 4gb), you should find some for about $10-$13

4GB are everywhere. The Ultra line can be had at Canada Computers for just over $20 for the 4GB. Sandisk makes a 2GB in that line, but I can't see it being carried anywhere locally after a quick browse online.

Odd...I was just at a Canada Computer this past weekend. They only had the 16Gb. I should try another branch then. So uhh...any reason to get Extreme vs. Ultra with the camera that I have or not really?

Sorry to resurrect this thread but I thought I'd ask. I'm considering buying 2 Sandisk Extreme 16Gb CF cards for my 7D.

I take it that it should be sufficient enough in terms of quantity and speed to take an event like or studio type shoots? There should be no reason that this won't work on the 7D right?

I'm planning on taking the images in RAW. Right now, I'm running 2gb's and 4gb's in mRAW. I don't have the capacity for full RAW.

how large are file sizes of your RAW shots? Can a card fit say, 400-500 shots in ful RAW? then you know how much space you need.

In my camera, i run 2x32Gb cards, but that is just in case i shoot video too.

A 7D can get just shy of 300 raw shots on an 8gb card.

i bought this card for my 7D. i shoot short videos of family as well.

I can only get 77 - 85 shots in RAW with a 2Gb. 120 - 140 with a 4Gb. 4Gb is the largest I have.

I figured I can get roughly 300 in RAW with 16Gb. But then reading up on the mRAW vs RAW in terms of noise and IQ, I may drop down to the mRAW to get a slightly better image with more shots. Whaddya think?

300 shots, RAW on 8Gb? That's...a lot.

If you get 140 on a 4gb, why wouldn't you be able to get 280+ on an 8gb?

although i am a huge proponent of shooting less shots per shoot, it sounds like a 8Gb or 16Gb card will be much more versatile for you. Limited to 75ish shots is quite restrictive over a 3-4 hour shoot.

...Unless you're THAT good, of course! lol

I don't doubt that. I'm sure I can. I just don't have an 8Gb to test it out. hehehe But that's good if I can get 280'ish shots on an 8gb. Just having a little more leg room doesn't hurt. I know that we're not supposed to dump them all in a gigantic card for reasons that a card may unexpectedly fail.



Well...for what B&H is offering, the 16Gb Extreme looks like a good bargain...or is it overkill?




Yeah...I saw that too. The problem is that Transcends and I don't get along very well. I've had a few of them go out on me. Different formats, different applications. (ie. USB, SD) Since then, I've either stuck with Sandisk or Lexar, Sandisk being my preference.

Like i said, Im running two 32Gb cards just to make sure. I can set them to back-up the other too. I use Ultra Transcend, never had a problem.

I've never tried the GMonster cards before. Only heard of them thru you guys. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try.




Most times I lug my Macbook with me or at least a laptop with a card reader. I see your point though about having backups.
