Some people swear by the 24-70L. I have used it and while I like the F2.8, I love the IS much more on the 24-105L. I doubt I can take pictures like these handheld had it not been an IS lens...

How do you like your 24-105L?

Great photos Francishmt! Ya you definitely cannot take these photos without IS. I have the same lens and love it too! Its always on my camera :)

I also was talking to the photographer at my friend's wedding on Saturday and he prefers the 24-105 over his 24-70 2.8L.

Lol... I have that same shot too. We could probably onion skin the images an have a match. Different year though so the lighting display on the tower is different. Did you lay on the center cement block or use a tripod? I placed my 1D near the front of the block with a 17-40. I also got up at 4am to catch a beauty from the same location at sunrise.

Wow! Great handheld shots! Thank you for sharing. Please don't let negative people discourage you or rain on your parade.

Photo elitists who can't afford the latest gear or expensive gear will always make remarks that it's all about the skills, techniques whenever there's a post about the latest equipment or equipment used. ~ Sounds like pure jealousy to me. Yes, we know it's all about the skills...now go pat your super ego and please continue to rain on other's parade. ;-)

Spoken like a true pro, eh? May I take a look at your creative published works you've done? Past exhibits brochure, perhaps?

Unfortunately, I'm not a photographer, just a newbie photo hobbyist and my photography skills suck big time (at least I'm honest) and reading posts from elitists who "think" their pics are so super awesome that people are lining up to offer them so much money for it...just makes me laugh so much. Thank you for making my day a happier one. LOL.

One thing I've learned in life - successful people don't brag, super rich people don't brag. If you need to brag and especially in an online forum, you're not good or successful enough offline (in real life).

A reality check perhaps?

LOL!

Wonderful shots! I too, love my 24-105L, even over my Nikkor 24-70/2.8. It's just the most versatile zoom for travel and walkaround! Cheers.

+1

Yeah, what really gets me is that when people talk about gears on a "Gear and Equipment" forum, there will always be someone who say things like "gears don't count... it's the skills that matters.... it's the photographer who take the pictures not the gears etc etc" , hey what can you do huh?

don't forget, we have photographers and artists using photography as tool. These two have different priorities in their abilities and outcome :)

It's the only zoom lens I own, does everything well, I often use it at f4 where it is still pretty sharp. Light weight (for what it does) good walk around and travel lens. Colours, flare control and contrast even when shooting close to the sun are very good.

Cool. May I take a look at your creative, artistic published works you've done? Past exhibits brochure, perhaps?

Don't forget, this is a "Gear and Equipment" section.

Why not start your own thread in Photography in General? Like "Let me show you my amazing, artistic and creative skills"? In your personal self-importance thread, you can show us a photo, teach us how you capture that moment. Students ask question, idolize and admire your "skills"?

Very cool. Is that your only published work so far? I don't mean to question your skills and experiences but you kept bringing that up and I sincerely hope that you're able to enlighten us further regarding your published works.

I'll be very dissapointed if you didn't get paid handsomely for your published work in Humber Happenings. As you know, a lot of members here aren't too kind to members who provide photos for free.

Please pardon my ignorance. I was so proud a fellow TPMG member's work is published, I went to Chapters but unfortunately was unable to locate the magazine you mention.

I browsed the Photography, Architecture, Arts, Fine Arts section but unable to find it. Any chance it's a special members only prints? Like those you get from BMW or Amex Centurion Card?

Hope you'll able to enlighten us further regarding the Humber Happenings. Thanks.
